Here you'll find my work from past sessions, weddings, elopements and even guides to help you whether that be how to plan your adventure elopement or what to wear to your engagement session!
Sydney and Levi’s engagement session at Belle Isle is one of my favorites to date. We started their session with a champagne picnic by the quarry and ended under the golden hour sun on the rocks overlooking the river.
I saw the inspiration for the champagne picnic on pinterest and just knew I had to do something similar at one of my upcoming sessions. I asked Sydney and she was totally down, I was so excited!
This was one of those sessions that just felt like we were a bunch of friends hanging out. And that’s how I always want my clients to feel at sessions. No pressure to get the perfect photos, just having a good time!
I don’t want your photos to be JUST pictures. I want them to be more than that. I want them to evoke a feeling, create nostalgia. I want you to be able to look back at your photos and put yourself back in that moment. Like stills out of a movie where you’re the main characters. (Scroll down to the sunset photos, that’s exactly how those photos make me feel!)
Getting to Belle Isle
Belle Isle is one of my absolute favorite places for engagement sessions. Located right in the heart of Richmond, it offers the perfect nature getaway from the hustle of downtown.
If you’re considering an engagement session at Belle Isle, there’s a few things that are helpful to know.
I always route my GPS to the “Belle Isle Parking Lot.” This is the closest lot that offers free parking. It does have limited spaces and fills up pretty quickly, especially on weekends. If you don’t feel like waiting for a spot to open up, there is a pay to park lot right next door and plenty of street parking in the area.
Once you’ve parked, you’ll take the pedestrian bridge across the river over to the rocks. This is about a 10-15 minute walk so just be prepared and plan accordingly to arrive on time to your session!
Once across the bridge, you’ll follow the gravel path until you reach the part of the path that branches off to the right. There is where I always take my couples for sessions. There are other areas you can access but this is my go-to! Once down this path, I usually just walk along the river until I find a good spot. This spot usually varies for each session since the water levels of the river aren’t always the same and sometimes spots I’ve used before are completely submerged in water!
Alla and John’s couples session at Bell Rock is one I will dream of literally forever. It was one of those shoots that was just TOO good. To give you an idea, a typical couples session lasts for about an hour to an hour and a half. We ended up running around Bell Rock together for TWO AND A HALF HOURS until we ran out of light. Literally.
